Manufacture Recommened Countertop Maintenance
The following are basic guidelines for Quartz Care & Maintenance. For more Manufacture specific Care & Maintenance, we have included the links to the manufactures pages.
🧼 Daily Cleaning
All four manufacturers recommend:
-
Mild soap or detergent + warm water
-
Use of a soft cloth or sponge (paper towel acceptable)
-
Avoiding harsh or abrasive cleaners (like bleach, oven cleaners, or powders)
Example brands recommended: Soft Scrub (non-abrasive), Windex®, Green Works®, Method Daily Cleaner
💧 Spill Management
-
Spills should be wiped up immediately to prevent potential staining.
-
For stubborn or dried spills: use non-abrasive scrub pads (e.g., white Scotch-Brite) with a neutral pH cleaner.
🖋️ Stain & Marker Removal
-
Permanent markers and inks should be avoided.
-
If stained, use a mild cleaner or Goo Gone, followed by rinsing with water.
🔥 Heat Protection
-
Quartz is heat-resistant but not heat-proof.
-
All advise using trivets or hot pads for hot pots, pans, or appliances like crock pots or electric skillets.
🔪 Scratch Prevention
-
Quartz is scratch-resistant, not scratch-proof.
-
Cutting boards are a must — never cut directly on the surface.
-
Avoid dragging metal utensils or heavy objects across the surface.
🧪 Chemical Caution
All manufacturers caution against:
-
Strong chemicals (For example: paint strippers, bleach, drain cleaner, CLR, ZEP)
-
Acetone, methylene chloride, trichloroethane
-
If accidentally used, rinse immediately with clean water
✨ Special Finishes
-
Honed, matte, leathered, or satin finishes show fingerprints and wear more easily.
-
Require more frequent cleaning
-
Still cleaned with the same non-abrasive methods
🧽 Dried Residue Removal
-
Use a plastic putty knife or scraper to remove dried materials like gum, food, or paint.
-
Metal scrapers should be avoided to prevent gray marks.
🧴 No Sealing Required
-
All specify that quartz is non-porous and does not require sealing. Unless specified by the manufacture.
🔒 Warranty and Use Guidelines
-
Most mention that damage from misuse (e.g., heat, chemicals, not using cutting boards) is not covered under warranty.
-
Professional installation is usually required for warranty coverage.
